Depression in the Canadian Public Service???

Consultants are worried about depression in the Public service!
"The public service is a tsunami of distractions -- meetings, everything questioned, delegated, people moving ... and no one is really in charge," said Wilkerson. "It's the most transient, fluid, unsettling work environment on the planet, so why wouldn't people be anxious and in distress? They are human beings."
As you read the article, it becomes clear that the 'Harper government' is beind the depression. Why? Because people can feel job cuts coming. Gee, these people have the most secure jobs in the country and everybody gets a pension. If we really want to lower depression in the public service, then let's get rid of 25% of them and let them find fulfillment in the private sector. Then, they won't have time for depression. I expect better reporting in our newspapers then this.

Ah, the hard life of a public servant. Those poor public servants. They just haven't developed the thick skin that private sector employees have as a result of having little job security 24/7 365 days per year. After years of having 100% job security they simply don't know how to cope with the concept of potentially losing their jobs. I hope I never have to endure the hardship of being a public servant.

Thats a sad state for canadian public service. This would create a serious depression among the people there because of the loss of jobs.
Hope the government helps them to get away from their depression.
