Here's a Kyoto plan we could support...
Now, here's a serious Kyoto plan.
Japan's Cabinet ministers have agreed to go without neckties and jackets from June to September in a major drive to save energy in government offices.
In the drive to save energy as part of the Kyoto protocol requirements, the ministers and officials of ministries and agencies will be asked to wear no neckties and jackets to save on air-conditioning energy.
The ministers reportedly plan to ask Diet politicians to follow suit so that legislators could debate in the Diet building during the summer.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda said on Thursday that ministers would not wear neckties during Cabinet meetings and regular press conferences.
