Ontario goes after fathers...
The province of Ontario has introduced new measures to go after fathers who are behind on support payments.
Measures to be introduced over the next two years include a doubling of jail term to 180 days for people who disregard court orders to pay support. These measures just go after fathers...but what about mothers who deny access to children???? The system right now is rigged against fathers - who are typically seen as walking wallets -- when the real problem is lack of shared access to children.
The news measures will give the Family Responsibility Office, which oversees the flow of child and spousal support payments from payers to recipients, greater powers to demand personal information about deadbeats in order to find them.
The office will be allowed to report the names of deadbeats to licensing bodies and to seek the suspension of hunting and fishing licences.
