At least this one goes to jail....

I'm not sure how long her sentence is....but probably not long enough...

An animal rights extremist, who was nicknamed Lady Penelope by fellow activists because she was so posh, has been jailed for sending poison pen letters.

Janet Lawrence, 51, an Animal Liberation Front supporter and the daughter of a senior Army officer, wrote threatening letters to workers who had only "vague and tenuous" links to the Huntingdon Life Sciences' animal testing laboratory.

One of her victims was so terrified that he hired a private security company to protect his family after Lawrence wrote: "Your life will be made a living hell until you stop abusing animals for profit, you evil, perverted scum."

Lawrence, who has a son at university, was jailed for eight months at Lewes Crown Court after she admitted causing a public nuisance.

Judge Richard Hayward told her: "You are undoubtedly an intelligent woman with good qualifications and wholly respectable in other parts of your life. I think you lack insight into the effect these letters would have on people.

"People must understand that believing in a cause does not justify unlawful activities."

Many of Lawrence's victims had already suffered at the hands of animal rights activists, who have been conducting a campaign against anybody linked to animal laboratories. The court was told that all of her letters were in red ink. One read: "You are a sick, evil, perverted deviant. You are now a legitimate and priority ALF target. The animal rights militia exists just for filthy, animal-abusing scum like you. You have been warned."
