Sensible talk in Australia...
I wish our Ministers would talk like this.
TREASURER Peter Costello has continued his attack on what he calls 'extremist' elements in Australia's Muslim community.
Mr Costello last week attacked "mushy multiculturalism" and likened abiding by Australian laws and values after migrating here to taking your shoes off when entering a mosque, a sign of respect.
Muslim leaders accused him of promoting Islamophobia and said the Government was running an anti-Muslim campaign.
But today Mr Costello expressed surprise anyone would find his comments controversial or provocative.
"Is it provocative to say that citizens should be loyal to Australia, that they should abide by the rule of law, that they should respect the rights and liberties of others?" Mr Costello said on ABC television.
"Is that now provocative in Australia? Gee, things have got pretty bad if that's provocative."

Damn right. Sounds like Australia is Paradise.
No, what is provocative is creating two classes of citizens, and mixing values with law.
