Gee. Wimbledon still pays men more...
But, why not? I bet the men's part of the tournament gets higher TV ratings...
Wimbledon remains the only Grand Slam tournament that pays the men's champion more than the women's winner.
The All England Club announced Tuesday that the men's winner this year will receive $1.170 million and the women's champion $1.117 million, a difference of $53,000. It's a four percent increase in British currency.

To win the men's title you have to win 50% more games than it takes to win the women's title. In the world of equal pay for work of equal value, why isn't the men's prize be twice as much.
or you could always do away with gender-based segregation and have a single bi-sexual bracket.
I agree that tennis is a particularly poor example as well. Why should the women be paid the same when they don't play the same amount of tennis? Only the WTA Tour Championship is best of 5 sets I believe. Maybe they should make grand slams best of 5 sets for the women then.
