The Sun and Global Warming...

The Daily Telegraph focuses on a the possibility that cosmic rays may help cloud formation and reduce global warming...but how about this?
The Sun has been at its strongest for more than 60 years and a period of high solar activity could be approaching its end. "This would produce a cooling effect that could counter part of the global warming predicted for the next century," said Dr Jens Olaf Pedersen, of the Danish National Space Centre

The Sun doesn't have anything to do with global warming!!! :)

It's all about my envy of the neighbours SUV! (oops!, used my 'outside voice' by mistake...)

The origonal New Scientist article on which this is based does not dispute global warming or that global warming has been caused by human activity. It merely says that these effects may be mitigated somewhat by the sun going through a cooling period. It's hardly an excuse to keep pumping CO2 into the atmosphere.

That's right, we really should do our best to reduce C02 and also air pollutants. It will be interesting to see the provincial Liberal (Ontario) reaction to the upcoming proposal to clean up our national vehicle fleet! I dare say Dalton won't be pleased.

Let's hope they order sulphur levels in gas and heating oil to be reduced as well (that'll make lots of folks mad, 'cause it'll increase the price by two or three cents a litre but it'll reduce smog significantly) and insist that the tar sands makes some meaningful progress on pollution emissions(might as well make some Alberta politicians mad, too!)--Fort McMurray air quality is very poor.

And then there's the coal-fired generation plants . . . there's clearly lots to do and we're really overdue for some serious action on the environment; let's hope Rona Ambrose is much more successful than her predecessors have been. She needs to be, 'cause most of us are heartily tired of years of chatter and ineffective spending on this issue.

Reduce, Reduce! Watch the earth cool! We are all heroes! Hoo-ray! Wha? It still has a high temperature? Our Tylenol remedy failed? But how could that be?

Let it run its course.....Man did not create global warming and man ain't going to solve it. Yeah, yeah. We don't help matters because we are selfish capitalist swines. We know the drill. Back in my corner.
