The Oscars go green...

Well, I watched the Oscars tonight, and Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio made a big deal about the awards going green. They said to check the web site about what they had done...but, here's what it says:
This year, the Academy, the Oscar telecast producer Laura Ziskin and the entire production team endeavored to select supplies and services with a sensitivity toward reducing the threats we face from global warming, species extinction, deforestation, toxic waste, and hazardous chemicals in our water and food. With guidance and assistance from the Natural Resources Defense Council, a non-partisan environmental and advocacy organization, we learned that it was easy (and often cost effective) to make simple changes to reduce Oscar's ecological footprint.
No details, nothing!

So, I have some simple questions:

1. How many of the nominees took public transit to get to the Awards. I ask this because it was suggested that we make more use out of public transit when Melissa Etheridge was performing. Related to this: How many of the nominees carpooled to get to the Awards (suggested on the web site)?

2. How many of the nominees flew on private planes to get to the Awards?

3. How is the ecological footprints of the parties being reduced?

4. Was there any heating or air conditioning used at the Awards?

5. How many of those parties afterwards are going to use "reusable utensils' as suggested on the web site???

Hey, do you have a question of your own? Comment, please?

Yeah, tried to get us to do what they are not willing to. Messages like this from most celebrities are self-righteous crap. It's a shame we can't replace fossil fuels with celebrity self-importance.

Just think of the lighting used to make every celebrity last night look younger than they really are???

I suppose that future movies will be lit by candlelight from now on. I, for one, am relieved. :-)

As always, Hollywood's morals and values are leading the world. :-)

Something to aspire to. Just as I watch Oprah to learn dieting advice, I always listen to Hollywood stars when I'm having relationship problems, because they know what they're doing in that area.

That's why I trust them on the environment now too.

You should get off of your climate change denying soap box!

Al Gore was radiant in winning his Oscar. He pointed out, once again, how important "An Inconvenient Truth" is.

Climate change denial is a dangerous game just to score political points.
