An important message from GayandRight
To All My Liberal Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Canada good. Not to imply that Canada is necessarily gooder than any other country in this hemisphere and around the world. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes. Please note that no muslims have been insulted in the writing of this message.
To My Conservative Friends:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Xmas and best wishes for 2008. Keep up the great blogging.
Can't stop with the partisan shots, even during the holidays?
Merry Christmas. Peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
Have a wonderful Christmas Fred and all the best for 2008!
Poster #2 proves you can never make some people happy no matter how PC you are - this is the society they dream of yet they grump, go figure.
Hmm you forgot gender and oh yeah goat preference..
anne: Your narrow caricature of liberals is making you say dumb sh*t. Slow down on the eggnog and stop reading Coulter.
Of all groups, I thought Conservatiaves would be the ones making the case for embracing the Xmas spirit, letting bygones be bygones, putting down the partisan hatchets and insisting everyone wish everyone well. I thought they would be the ones to become indignant when someone took cheap shots during the high holiday of Christianity. Instead, I see dumbass cheap partisan shots.
At least I see how much Xmas is genuinely respected by you guys - as far as it can be while still being hyperpartisan jackasses.
Merry Xmas Fred and everyone else. And tomorrow, go back to f*cking yourselves and pretending to give a sh*t about these things.
Thanks Lucifer (1:44).
Fred:
Merry Christmas Fred and to all.Contrary to some on the left, that keep saying that they are embarrassed of being Canadian these past couple of years me on the other hand haven't more proud with our current government hopefully more to come.
Merry Christmas!!!
Oh anonymous when you become outraged and righteous, it gives me goosebumps all over. I never thought a liberal would have that effect on me.
You have shown us the true spirit of Christmas liberal style. I often wondered why all was not well in the world and you have shown us why. I guess you had a miserable childhood and Christmas brings it all back. Well here is a conservative hug, mm oops the finger got in the way, ah never mind you get the message.
Merry Christmas Fred..keep putting up the content in the new year, that we all so enjoy..
Some of it is better than coffee to get your blood pumping furiously in the morning!:)
Happy holidays.
Anon @ 1:44 - don't drink eggnog (or much else) and have never read Coulter, looks like you have the narrow viewpoint!
Ahh... love your wonderful sentiments at the end there but not very PC of you, naughty!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Fred. Thanks for all the good stuff you put up here.
Bill
It's funny watching you guys squirm, dodge and try to deflect from the fact that you just made a partisan attack out of Xmas.
Now that we all know what value you guys put on the holiday we'll adjust our respect accordingly.
Anon 7:35 AM,
When I come to believe you are capable for genuine respect of viewpoints other than yours, not just convenient hypocritical respect, I'll actually start caring about what you say.
You see, there are a few problems with your actions/comments here, and a big problem with your demand that I SHOW RESPECT for your viewpoints to win your respect.
Firstly, I started from a position of good faith (i.e., assuming you guys respected Xmas and were not hypocrites), whereas you guys started from a position of bad faith (i.e., assuming we were hypocrites about Xmas, as well as assuming we ALL believed in a hyperbolic, oversimplified, hyperreal version of PC totalitarianism).
The bad faith predicated on PC totalitarianism is forgiveable, if it was assumed to be a joke, or a friendly jab at the quirks of the other end of the spectrum. But we know that wasn't the case, as was clearly shown in the comments. It was clear you meant to make malicious fun of someone in the name of Xmas. In any case it is a ridiculous overgeneralization that someone would really NEED to be joking about, because to actually believe that all liberals are like that is logically inconsistent. I need find only one counterexample to prove you wrong, and it would be easy to do - however, the position you describe is such a caricature that the counterexample would be in the majority. So your caricature - and universal assertion - is patently false. The proportion of people who conform to that is so ludicrously small as to be insignificant, and so is any point you may have been making.
As an aside, Anne, this is why you were accused of reading Coulter: Because you might as well do so, if you believe retarded overgeneralizations like that. I was wrong about you reading Coulter yourself, but I can bet that if you're reading those universal assertions about liberals, you're getting some of them from her. So you are, essentially, reading Coulter. That's the brand of reasoning that she espouses.
As for demanding that I show respect for you, I might ask why you think that I didn't before I came in here. You don't know me in the least, and you have no idea who I am as a person, or what I believe, other than what I said to you here. I can tell you that I am a person that looks for conciliation, and I'm in an even more amenable mood during the holidays - even though I don't put the religious weight on it that everyone else does. I don't make blanket condemnations or overgeneralizations of other people based on their beliefs - I don't assume everyone on the other side is the same, and that they all believe in WILDLY hyperbolic caricatures of an actual belief system.
I sincerely doubt you would ever show respect towards me and I doubt I would ever see eye-to-eye with you. You have assumed an untouchable bad faith position in your arguments that assumes everyone else is out to get you and that they're already wrong. This is why you worded your response as
When I come to believe you are capable for(sic) genuine respect of viewpoints other than yours, not just convenient hypocritical respect, I'll actually...
That wording indicates that there is no belief that I even have a position to discuss. You clearly state that you think I have nothing but hypocritical respect for others. What could I possibly do to change your mind? I find that tactic abhorrent, and I see it as the reason why civil discourse has collapsed. It ends conversation, which was your intention. Do you think I'm honestly going to show respect for you and the others here? Why should I be the first one? More importantly, why should I show respect for your initial starting point of disrespect, your presumption of disrespect and your argument from a position of bad faith?
I can honestly say that about the only thing I have a presumption of disrespect for is people with the mindset you've just displayed. People addicted to bad faith.

Why are you taking Fred's joke and turn it into a profanity laced screed? If you didn't think it was humorous, fine. Take your meds and go tell your little friends how you took down the big bad blog.
To everyone else, Happy New Year.
Fred, keep up the good work!
Please. Were it a joke someone might have said something before it became caustic. Say, somewhere during the three comments and two hours following my first and before my second.
And as usual, who is the "it's just a joke!!!" line comes out eventually. I think it might have been Jesus that said that most truth is spoken in jest? I think it's pretty clear that it wasn't just a joke. Did you read my last post?
Anyways, let's just let it go. I have no further desire to continue this, and I'm sure neither do you.
Oh anonymous you really must take your meds on a daily basis. Do you honestly believe that we even give a damn about your opinion or that anything you say will change our minds. You must be either really dense or so into yourself that reality has no meaning for you.
That long diatribe really impressed me, but i became bored after the you see and never did finish reading it. Oh well merry xmas anonymous and hopefully next year someone somewhere will pay more attention to you because here you just seem to be a sad joke one which we enjoy ridiculing.
