Come and support the Afghans...

The Free Thinking Film Society is proud to host the Canadian-Afghanistan Solidarity Committee here in Ottawa. We are having a night to kick off the Canadian debate on our post-2011 involvement in Afghanistan.

Here are the details:

$30.00/$15.00 for students

Here is the list of speakers:

o Terry Glavin (award-winning author and one of Canada's leading voices in support of our Afghanistan campaign).

o Major-General Lewis MacKenzie (Ret'd, served in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 35 years and awarded the Order of Canada).

o Jawed Ludin (Ambassador to Canada from Afghanistan).

o Grant Kippen (Chairman of Afganistan's Electoral Complaints Commission).

o Dr. Nipa Banerjee (Professor at the University of Ottawa).

o Lauryn Oates (Human Rights Activist).

o Nasrine Gross (Afghan-American writer).

o Dr. Douglas Bland (Chair of the Defence Management Studies Program at Queens University at Kingston).

After the speeches and panel discussion, the evening will be a reception/fundraiser for the Afghan-Canadian Community Centre (www.theafghanschool.org) in Kandahar. Ehsanullah Ehsan, Director of the School, will be giving a video presentation from Afghanistan.
