DNA clears man of rape charge...after 20 years!
I love DNA - it's revolutionizing our legal system, and all for the better. But, my heart goes out to Anthony Woods.
A St. Louis man who spent 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl has been completely cleared by DNA three years after his parole.
A judge signed an order Thursday declaring that Anthony Woods is "actually innocent, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports."
Woods was identified as the rapist when he walked by the house of a 15-year-old girl who had been attacked that morning on her way to school. During the trial, his lawyer was barred from telling the jury that similar crimes had been committed after Woods' arrest.
