Garth Turner to Speak at Breakfast Club, November 8th
(OTTAWA, November 2, 2005) Investment guru, television producer, and former Revenue Minister Garth Turner will provide his usual brand of insight and provocative opinion at the Ottawa Centre Breakfast Club on November 8.
“Garth Turner has been one of the most out-spoken proponents of a conservative approach to handling the nation’s finances,” noted Ottawa Centre candidate Keith Fountain. “He’s known for his strong views on fiscal management, debt reduction, and support for small businessThis time he’s turning his guns on the Liberal government’s latest controversy on taxing income trusts.”
Turner first earned his reputation as a feisty defender of the interests of ordinary Canadians as the financial editor of the Toronto Sun in the 1980s. He served as Member of Parliament for Halton-Peel from 1988 to 1993, and is the current candidate for Halton. He ran as a candidate for the Leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party in 1993.
In recent years he has augmented his national reputation as a columnist, speaker, author of seven books, and CEO of Millennium Media Television, Canada’s largest independent producer of network television program.
The Ottawa Centre Breakfast Club holds monthly meetings the National Press Club. Last month the Club began its new season with Senator Hugh Segal.
Tickets for the November 8 breakfast club cost $35, which includes a breakfast buffet, served at 7:30 AM., are available by contacting Breakfastclub@keithfountain.ca. Mr. Turner will address the Club at 8 AM.
