Why a March Election is Preferable...

While Conseravatives are frothing at the mouth at the prospect of an election in December...there are some good reasons to wait. If we have elections BEFORE the second Gomery Report is released, there will be NO incentive for the Government (whether Conservative or Liberal) to implement his recommendations.

With an election AFTER the second Gomery Report, the parties will be tripping over themselves pledging to implement Gomery. Isn't that what we want?

How should we know if that is what we want until we read the report? Why can we not figure some of it out for ourselves now? Gomery is not the end all and be all of hope for the government. It is just another study.

There are some major reforms that are needed that were well beyond the accountability, advertising, and whistle blower protection agenda of Gomery's second report. The Liberals are keen to pass laws like decriminalizing marijuana while judicial, senate, democratic, health, indian affairs, and economic reforms are much more pressing. If the Liberals won't do it, then get someone in who will.
