Iran's President doubts the holocaust happend...

More claptrap from Mr Ahmadinejad.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday expressed doubt that the Holocaust occurred and suggested Israel be moved to Europe.

His comments, reported by Iran's official IRNA news agency from a news conference he gave in the Saudia Arabian city of Mecca, follow his call in October for Israel to be "wiped off the map", which sparked widespread international condemnation.

"Some European countries insist on saying that Hitler killed millions of innocent Jews in furnaces and they insist on it to the extent that if anyone proves something contrary to that they condemn that person and throw them in jail," IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.

"Although we don't accept this claim, if we suppose it is true, our question for the Europeans is: is the killing of innocent Jewish people by Hitler the reason for their support to the occupiers of Jerusalem?" he said.

"If the Europeans are honest they should give some of their provinces in Europe -- like in Germany, Austria or other countries -- to the Zionists and the Zionists can establish their state in Europe. You offer part of Europe and we will support it."

Well then Iran's president simply isn't dealing with the facts.

I guess my mother's stories of growing up in Frankenstein, Silesia are all just figments of her imagination.

People would just dissappear, and if you asked of their whereabouts they had been "resettled".
Only later, did you find out what resettlement really meant.

I gather my grandmother's recollections are all rubbish as well. If you spoke out too loudly, you would quickly number among the "disappeared".

As my grandmother related in respect of the Jews:

"Dar war damals (1944-45) uberhaupt nichts damit anzufangen"

Translation: At that time, there was hardly a place to even begin (to protest).

It was all too little, too late. If you wanted to speak up, it should have been in 1932-33 when it might have made a difference in whether Adolf got to power.

It it stupid statements like the denial of the Holocaust, based on complete and utter disregard for factual documentation, that will only lead to another situation like the Holocaust.

When my paternal grandfather, who spent 4 years on the Russian front in WWI, spoke out on the invasion of Russia in 1941 he stated:

"Unser Fuhrer wird sich in Russland zum Tode siegen".

Translation: "Our Fuhrer's only victory in Russia, will be in spreading death and destruction."

After neighbours got wind of his statement, this was quickly followed up by a little entrapment session with the Gestapo. Fortunately, he did not fall into the trap of repeating his statement.

So my parents families had the largest "shitstorm" of the last century roll right through their backyard; and we get some politically motivated people telling us it never happened. Oh please spare me.

If you think it is trivial to speak up against an authoritarian regime, then one is just being plain stupid and naive. Do it too loudly and it may only cost you your life and that of your family, friends, etc.

Now we have one nation deciding that another nation should be wiped off the map. Well Germany tried that once; apparently it didn't work out too well by all accounts.

We can only hope and pray that Iran's leaders come up with a plan B, of peaceful coexistence.

His statements make no sense whatsoever. It just makes one wonder how it is possible that such a creature ia able to be the leader of a country.
