Climatologist fired....for being skeptical...

If you challenge the can kiss your job goodbye...

University of Washington climate scientist Mark Albright was dismissed on March 12 from his position as associate state climatologist, just weeks after exposing false claims of shrinking glaciers in the Cascade Mountains.

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels (D) had asserted in a February 7 Seattle Times editorial, "the average snow pack in the Cascades has declined 50 percent since 1950 and will be cut in half again in 30 years if we don't start addressing the problems of climate change now."

Albright knew from his research that the Cascade Mountains snow pack had not declined anywhere near what Nickels asserted, and that the snow pack has actually been growing in recent years.

Albright sent emails to his colleagues informing them of the factual data.

At most, according to reliable datasets, the Cascade Mountains snow pack declined by 35 percent between 1950 and 2000. Moreover, even that number is misleading. Nickels and other global warming alarmists deliberately choose 1950 as the "baseline" for Cascade Mountains snow pack because 1950 was a year of abnormally heavy snowfall resulting in an uncharacteristically extensive snow pack.

Albright noted in his emails the current snow pack is only marginally lower than the long-term average since 1943. Moreover, the Cascade Mountains snow pack has been growing since the late 1970s.

Of course they will make the argument that it was not his ideas that they are criticizing but his lack of authority to express them as he did.
Imagine for a minute if GWB or any Repub leader did the same.
Great find

I'm waiting for toronto twink & his fellow Kyoto Treaty enthusiasts to respond to this. If they bother, they'll probably spin it the way lemon has indicated.

The guy was fired for being over stressed and mentally ill.

He's a discredit to his profession, and should be exiled.

Anyone who denies climate change is not dealing with reality.

I don't care how much the economy will be damned; this country must be compelled to change in order to save the environment.

It's hilarious when people think that a country of 33 million people can save the planet by becoming ascetic monks and imposing great hardship upon themselves.

Any two cities in Asia will wipe out any cut we could possibly make to greenhouse gases, and since the greenhouse gas scare is a load of crap anyhow - it's even more ridiculous.

What are your medical credentials? On what basis do you conclude this? If it's only because he has the audacity to disagree with your stance on Kyoto, then you are arguing in a circle, assuming what you are presumably trying to prove.

I don't care how much the economy will be damned;

If you think Canadians will agree with you on this, you are the one not dealing with reality.

Isn't it amazing that anyone who disagrees with the concept of global warming is now suddenly thought of as being mentally ill and over stressed.
Who is better qualified to present the facts on climate change than a climatologist?
Maybe some believe a politician is better trained to interpret this data? How utterly rediculous.
And since when is illness grounds for dismissal. It is illegal in this country to dismiss someone for being ill. The company, by law, has to keep their position open for them until they are well, or deemed permanently disabled. They can only fill the position with a temporary placement in the duration.
No, he is not ill, he is politically incorrect, and THAT unfortunately, in this country is considered by many to be illegal.
