And, they say that gay marriage hurts the institution of marriage...

But, don't straight people do enough damage...check this out...
It seems like only two months ago that Pamela Anderson was aglow with happiness over her quickie Las Vegas wedding to Rick Salomon.

Actually, it was.

But the 40-year-old ex-"Baywatch" beauty has filed for divorce from her 38-year-old husband after just two months of marriage.

You confuse things a bit - mind you that is a necessary tactic when one wants to argue that left is right or that right is left.

Gay marriage does not "hurt" the institution of marriage as much as make a mockery of it. So does the example you quote. Making a mockery of a relationship that has served our species well is not the exclusive province of homosexuals. All can join in of whatever persuasion.

I will agree with gerry on this one. Marriage should be a life long commitment.

The problem is not that gay marriage is now legal, it goes back way further than that, it goes back to allowing easy divorce. Divorce makes a mockery of relationships and families.

Make people pay $20,000 to get married. I know, that's not the solution, but it makes people think long and hard about getting married. No more, I'll get pregnant so the guy will marry me (yes, I know some women who still think that way).

Marriage is more than a photo op, it is hard work, and if you can just walk away from it whenever you want, it lessens the value.

My view is that the state really has no place in the marriage business. It should be up to the individual marriage institutions. Namely the churches weather or not they want to perform a ceremony. Some are currently for it and some are against it. The states role is to document that it has taken place.

As far as adoption goes. With the exception of when one is a natural parent. I think preference should be given to opposite sex couples. Children have rights too and I thing one of those should be where possible to have both a mother and a father.

I'm not with you on this argument either Fred. I don't see it as gay vs. straight.

Liberals introduced laws that wrecked the institution of marriage then said that as hetero marriage was messed up, we had to allow gay marriage. It's just a nonsense argument all round but typical of liberal intellect.

I know you're not a lefty and I love the work you do on this blog so I'd rather see you use stronger positions than this one.

Have to agree that divorce is too easy to get for those with money such that they do make a mockery of 'marriage.' Your story rings true, but luckily people like Pam are a very small percentage of the population so far. (real conservative)

Gays should be forced to marry!

There's no reason to allow them to be any happier than the rest of us simply because they're 'Gay'!
