Geo-political expert comments on US-Australian ties...
I love it when these experts decide to comment...
CATE Blanchett wants the winner of next month's federal election to free Australia from its "embarrassing" relationship with the US.
The Oscar winning actress says Australia is too closely tied to the US and has made a mistake by isolating itself from its Asian neighbours.
“Whoever gets in will have to deal with this climate of paranoia,” she told London's Guardian newspaper.
“We're so in America's back pocket it's embarrassing.
“We have to claim our individualism, but also reconnect to the world in a better way.
“We've really isolated ourselves from Asia.
“I think that's politically and culturally very foolish.
“The problem with Australia is that it's uranium- and coal-rich, so whoever gets in needs to be really responsible.”

It's even funnier when failed presidential candidates play scientist, and very nearly hysterical when prize-awarding committees listen to them.
Ummm, she's Australian. I'm pretty sure that gives her the right to comment on her country's relationship with the de facto world superpower and the country in which she currently lives and works.
By the same argument, I hope you never have anything to say about Canada and its relationship with the US - and more importantly, what would this imply about your right to comment on this?
gdw: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Gore just presented the science. He didn't actually do the research.
Thanks for the input, though. At least you're trying.
Only a moron would think that Gore presented science...
Although technically junk science is still science.
Entertainers should stick to their scripts since so few can think for themselves.
